The Cast and Crew of The Vagina Monologues

I just want to say ‘thank you’ first and foremost to God for His many blessings and faithfulness.  I also thank everyone who’s supported me either as cast, crew, patron or friend over these last few years.  Arthur Ashe once said, “Success is a journey not a destination.  The doing is usually more important than the outcome.” As spring approaches and we proceed with our projects/productions I want everyone to be encouraged to know that as long as you give your best, you can’t help but be blessed!  Let’s continue  to support and believe in each other’s dreams.

Keep Drama in Your Life,

Shawn P.

Actor of the Season…Sean Rodriguez

Born in Detroit Michigan, Sean Rodriguez graduated from U of D Jesuit HS, and studied theater at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus where he was able to study under Larry Sacharow, Marian Seldes, and Edward Albee. At Fordham, he found an affinity for the work of psychologist Carl Jung, and theatre practitioners Augusto Boal and Jerzy Grotowski.

Upon returning to Detroit he made his Detroit acting debut in Neil Labute’s tense racial drama THIS IS HOW IT GOES at the Zeitgeist theatre. This also began his controversial career as a producer. He was next seen in Ann Arbor in the role of Wendal in AACT’s production of BEFORE IT HITS HOME by Ceryl L. West. Sean was also featured in the gospel plays UNEQUALLY YOKED and CHURCH GIRL.

Wanting to give something back to the community, Sean and a group of like-minded artists founded 4TheatrSake, an actors’ collective dedicated to the transformative power of theatre–as a social, political, emotional, and humanistic force. So far, 4TheatrSake has produced classic plays such as MACBETH, Suzan Lori-Park’s IN THE BLOOD, and George C. Wolfe’s THE COLORED MUSEUM. Above all, Sean is committed to a life in theatre as a means of participating in the artistic dialog that is so vital to the health of any society, and especially ours.

Find Sean on-stage this month as Lymon in August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson at Ann Arbor’s Performance Network Theatre March 3-April 3. Also Sean will be dancing with a project at the Michigan Arts League called Jo! Africa to America – A Dance Odyssey.
